A Year in Bloom and A Birthday Giveaway

Happy Birthday Bloom!  Yesterday was my one year anniversary of blogging.  I have to be honest and write that I really didn't think that I would enjoy blogging when I started. I thought it would be a bit to personal and intimate for me but it seemed like a necessary way to promote my Etsy store.  So, I committed to myself that I would blog of one full year and then evaluate my feelings on blogging. If after that period I wanted to stop, I would.  Now 12 months later, here we are!

I love my little blog:) (at least 99% of the time)  It is a lot of work and requires much more time than I thought it would but it is super rewarding.  I love hearing the feedback from you, my AMAZING READERS.  Even just looking at the number of page views I get each day is enough to warm my heart.  I have learned so much and have made some great blogging friends!  THANK YOU so much for following me and reading what I write.  I really can't tell you how much it means to me to have you here.  I am very happy with what I've accomplished the past year and that wouldn't have happened without you! (and my sweet, sweet family who now asks "Are you working?" rather than saying "Are you on the computer again!?")

SO... S'more Pops and Party Straw Give Away

Party straws are an inexpensive way to add some fun to your party.  Use them anywhere you would use a stick.  These s'more pops are a yummy example of how a straw can liven up your dessert tables.

S'more Pops

Supplies:
jumbo marshmallow, melted chocolate, crushed graham crackers and party straws to match your event

Directions:
STICK on marshmallow
COAT with the melted chocolate
DIP into the graham cracker crumb

Simple.  The kids will love it.  I have used these fun straws at lots of my parties.
Here, they are dressed up with simple party flags.

Here, I used them to hold the banner and bunting on my cakes.

Here, I used they to cover the sticks of the candy apples.

Sweet Designs By Amy Atlas

I absolutely cannot wait for this book to come out next month!  Amy Atlas is my party styling idol. My first "big break" came when my Thriller Party was featured on Sweet Design, A Blog by Amy Atlas.  I sent the party in as "why the heck not,"  never even considering there was the slightest chance I would ever even hear back.  It took them 10 minutes:)  Until I was featured, NO ONE knew I had a blog or Etsy store- not any of my family and not any of my friends.  I really had a strong desire to make it on my own and not because my family and friends were following me.  Honestly, until that point, no one was following me. In my first 8 weeks of blogging, I had 10 page views.  Accidents, I'm sure.  Being on Amy Atlas gave me the confidence that maybe I could actually do this.  I am so excited to give this book to one lucky reader.

100,000 Celebration and Give Away!

I love this quote from Pinterest (sorry it's a bit blurry).  It really motivates me, sort of kicks me in the rear.

I am so excited to share a big milestone for Bloom.  Our blog reached 100,000 page views on Sunday. When I started this blog and business, I made a mental list of goals I want to accomplish. This was the final one on that list.  Even in late January,  I thought that it would take over a year of blogging to reach this mark.  Happily, the traffic on our site the past few weeks has been amazing.  Not sure why, but SO DELIGHTED!  Thank you for all the sweet words and support.  It really makes all the time and effort that goes into this blog worth it.

A Sweet Give Away

I was so excited yesterday when I logged onto Sweet Designs by Amy Atlas, one of my favorite blogs (which I check three times a day for inspiration), and saw the cover of Amy's new book, Sweet Designs.  It is beautiful, to say the least.  For those of you who don't know who Amy Atlas is (this is for my dad who reads my blog), she is to the dessert table what Oprah Winfrey is to talk shows- the queen. She is totally in a league by herself. She is absolutely, without a doubt my party styling idol! On top of that, her commander in chief, Lisa, is the nicest, most endearing person have I come across in this business.  My first real party styling break came when my Thriller party was featured on Sweet Designs last October.  I actually sent the party in as a Hail Mary, why not, might as well.  Not in my wildest dreams did I think they would even respond. I honestly received an email back from Lisa within 10 minutes and it is like that each time I submit something.
So, to share some of this excitement with you, I am doing a giveaway of Amy's book, Sweet Designs.  Leave a comment below with your email by midnight, Wednesday, February 1.  The winner will be announced next Friday.  However, I would encourage everyone to go onto Amazon or Barnes and Noble and pre-order the book anyways. Amazingly, it is only $18.46- all 352 pages of this hard cover book. The only down side- you have to wait until April to get it.
