Tiny Details

I've done several posts on tiny details that can take your party from good to great- custom stamps, bows, relabeling and repackaging to name a few.  When I am searching for party ideas, I am always coming across some amazing tiny details that add so much charm and character to a party.  As I wrote in our first series post:

Tiny Details- often simple, inexpensive and most require just a little bit of extra time.  These small details are a way to add to the theme and atmosphere of your party making it a bit more special.

As a spin off to our good vs. great series, I am starting a new reoccurring feature called "Tiny Details" so that I can share these great inspirations.

LOVE the bunting on the chair backs in the party colors and nautical theme fabrics along with the sailor hats.  Chairs take up a lot of room at your party.  Don't stop your decor at the table.

Also from the same party- I just love the cording and life saver tied around the drink jars.   Such a clever idea to add to the nautical theme.

Our very first good vs. great was ombre candy jars.  These jars take it one step further. (greatest?)
Such a simple idea- wish I would have thought of it! Best of all, it doesn't cost you any more money- just patience.   I cannot wait to you this detail.

Thank you for voting!

Jenny

I always get really excited when I see a great party for boys because, quiet honestly, you don't see many "great" ones.  This one really caught my interest.

Moustaches and Mozzarella on Amy Atlas

I love the original theme and since I just finished my strikes and 'staches party, it's fun to see the moustache theme paired with another idea.  So well done- perfectly detailed.

This is a good reminder that you can make a theme out of anything.  Pick something the birthday girl or boy loves and go with it!

What Bloomed This Spring

Please remember to vote for me on the circle of moms best party blog contest. Just click here. No logging in or registering just one thumbs up click. YOU CAN VOTE EACH DAY. I REALLY appreciate it!

Sigh!  I have finally wrapped up all of my spring party projects.  I told you last week that I was as busy as a bee and I wasn't kidding.  The past few months, I have been working on 3 new party themes for birthday's of children whom I absolutely adore (including my not so little Luke).  On two of the projects, I got to work with my dear friends who had incredible vision for the parties they were hosting.   All the party photos have been submitted to a slightly bigger ;) party blog- yes bigger than mine- and I am so happy to say that they will be featured there in the weeks ahead.  I am very excited to share the themes and invites which are now available in my Etsy store.

Strikes and 'Staches Party-
My son, Luke insisted on having an all boy bowling party. What better way to highlight the manliness of the day than incorporating a mustache theme into the party!  The little man theme is one of my favorite boy parties and it works great by itself for a shower or any age birthday which is why the invite is available with or without the bowling twist.

Love Bug
This party was AH-mazing- so pretty and proper for the sweetest, most feminine, little girl.  There is an endless amount of garden and bugs ideas that would work for this adorable theme.

Baby Bee-
I have seen lots of bee parties but none quite like this!  Totally stunning.  This party was totally modern and classy without  "bee"ing to cutesy or babyish.  LOVED it!

Finally, a sweet follower requested my apple of our eye invites in red and turquoise blue for a party she is hosting this summer (great all american idea).  I absolutely loved the results, so the entire apple of my eye line is available in red/turquoise or the original green/hot pink.  Thanks Jennifer!

I can't wait for you to see the parties for these themes.  I honestly can't choose a favorite.  Banners, cupcake toppers, labels, thank you tags, juice box cover and more are available for each of these theme in my Etsy store.  Email me if you don't see what you want.

A little break with family and friend this weekend, then on to serious party planning for the summer months.  So excited already- 6 parties ahead.  Have a fabulous holiday weekend, my friends, and I really mean that!  Thanks for voting and your support.  Leave a comment below letting me know your favorite new theme!

Jenny

Patriotic Cake Decorations

I have been thinking a lot about my dessert displays for the patriotic holidays coming up.  I always love the simplicity and versatility of a plain white frosted cake.  They can easily be dressed up for any theme using candy, ribbon, fondant, or even paper banners and they are easy to make with a simple buttercream, or for a smoother look, rolled fondant.  Better yet, any bakery or even your local grocery store can make you one for a small expense.

If you would like the decorations that I used on these cakes, I am happy to email the file to you if ...

Pretty Perfect

Hello-
Please remember to vote for me on the circle of moms best party blog contest.  Just click here.  No logging in or registering just one thumbs up click.  You can vote once a day.   I REALLY appreciate it. XO

I found two great parties featured on the web last week that I am excited to share with you.

Pink Baby Shower Safari on HWTM
This is a great take on a typical boys theme.  I just love the pinks and grays with the warm rustic elements and the graphic print of the table cloth mixed with the burlap.  Isn't the jeweled globe amazing? It would be pretty perfect in a girls bedroom?

Butterflies and Flowers on Amy Atlas
I have to admit it.  I am the biggest pushover for pretty parties.  This sweet little party is just perfectly pretty- reminding us that parties don't have to be grand to be memorable.

Hop on over to each site for more details.  More Memorial Day inspiration tomorrow!

Jenny

Make It Monday- Homemade Donuts

Hi everyone- if you could quickly pop over and vote for me, I would REALLY appreciate it. No registering or loggin in. Just one thumbs up click! You can vote once per day.  Thanks.

Donuts are one of my most favorite treats!  I love them all- old fashioned, crumb, twist - yummy.  When I saw a recipe for homemade donuts on Bakers Royale, I knew right away that I had to try them and what better time than Memorial Day.  My family and I always head out early to our watch our town's Memorial Day Parade.  Topped with patriotic red, white and blue stars, these donuts are the perfect way to start our patriotic celebration.

I altered the donut recipe slight and came up with my go to glaze.
Ingredients-

Glaze-
Whisk together-
2c powdered sugar
4 TBSP butter melted
1 TBSP milk
1 tsp. lemon juice
1 tsp vanilla
Set aside

Donuts-
1 1/4 cup cake flour, sifted
1 1/4 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp. lemon zest
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 egg lightly beaten
1 1/2 TBSP butter, melted
3/4 tsp. vanilla

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
2. Mix together sugar and lemon zest- set aside.
3. Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt.  Stir in sugar mixture.
4. Add in the rest of the ingredients and stir until combined.
5. Put batter into piping bag.

6. Fill donut pan half full.
7. Bake for about 6 minutes.  Donuts will be light on top and darker on bottom- I couldn't find a way around it.

Let donuts cool slightly and then top with glaze and sprinkles.

Save this recipe.  Wouldn't these look cute at Christmas?  Or green for St.Patrick's Day?  Your school colors for the first day back to school?  The list goes on and on..

Off to a great week!

Jenny

In Bloom- Etsy Store

I have been, shall we say,  as busy as a bee working on a new party theme and I have completely forgotten to share some cute new party bags and baking cups that I now carry in my ETSY store.
